At The British Museum
Went to the British Museum today as it's a Bank Holiday, it was really interesting.
I was last there many years ago when the kids were very young and we went as part of a school trip. It's not far from where I live, a 30 minute bus ride and it's free entry, so I don't know why I hadn't been for so long, I guess it's lack of time.
The majority of people there did seem to be tourists, funny how when you live somewhere you don't visit too much.
I took lots of photos, some are not that brilliant as it's a bit dark in some of the rooms and of course a lot of the objects are behind glass, so reflections become quite a problem.
I was going to post a few but I couldn't make up my mind, so I posted them all in this slideshow made from the photos posted on Flickr..

I've Cast My Vote!
I been very good as I have just been to vote, even though I had a very busy long day at work and had to walk an extra half mile to the polling station!
For those not in London, today is the day we vote for the next Mayor of London.
It's not been an easy decision as all of them have some good and some not so good ideas on how to run this city..
Well, at least I know I've done my bit. I'm not going to reveal who I voted for though, some people may get annyoyed..lol

Back To Ealing
Yesterday the weather was lovely, the warmest day of the year so far. So not to waste the opportunity of getting out and enjoying it my partner (Rob) and I went to Ealing in West London.
There's nothing particularly special about Ealing but I wanted to go back and visit as it was where I had lived for a while back in the late 70's, not long after I had first come to live in London from Oxfordshire.
Considering how many years ago that was, so little had changed!
We walked in to Walpole Park and sat in the wonderfully warm sun admiring the beautifully colourful flowers and just enjoying the peace. (I must be old! lol)
It was a nice day, the edge taken off a little though by the fact I had a persistent headache the whole time.. Will these hormones ever leave me in peace!
Of course I took some photos which you are very welcome to view

England Stunk Today!
As I was pottering this morning I was listening to chat radio, people were phoning in to complain of a nasty smell in the air, loads of them, from many areas, not just London..
The met office are saying it's coming from Germany, Belgium and Holland as the farmers have been muck spreading and due to very strong Easterly winds we are getting the nasty whiffs floating over.
Yuck!!
Luckily I didn't smell it myself but my partner did as he went to work.

Exploring Portobello Road
Well, I did as planned, went out for a while.
My partner came with me, a little reluctantly though I may say. He's not really as adventurous as me.
I love to go out, exploring areas and corners of London that I've not been to before but he prefers to stay home at weekends as he's had a busy week. But me, even though I've also had a hectic week like to get out, "A change is as good as a rest"
So sometimes it's a bit difficult as I don't know many/any people who like to do as I do, so it's either drag him along or go by myself. I'm not too keen on going places by myself as I always feel - well I don't know, weird.
Do you feel comfortable going places alone?
Anyway, today we went to Portobello Road
It's only a short bus ride away and in all the years I have lived in London I had never been there.
It was interesting, but not necessarily my cup of tea as I'm not that excited by antiques, but I took a few photos and enjoyed being out - until it rained, hailed and blew a rather cold gale!

Spring Snow!
All winter we didn't get a single flake of snow, this morning, 1 week into spring and we woke to heavy snow - it's FANTASTIC!!
I got so excited I ran through the house waking my 2 girls, who were not amused. (They are here for the weekend and had a late night last night!) Just to think not so many years ago they would have been up, pulling on boots and coats, dying to get out there!
Hard to believe on Friday we had such a beautiful day with a high temperature of about 17c (62f)

My neighbours cat was quite bemused by it all!

Decapitated Body - Too Close Too Home
This is too close to home!
I walk along a part of this road everyday on my way to work, it's 5 minutes from where I live..
I just passed the area on my way home, it's still cordoned off, with plenty of Police presence.

A Walk In The City Countryside
This weekend was turning into a bit of a lazy one. Which is fine to some extent as both my partner and I work hard all week, it's good to just do nothing sometimes.
But the weather was very nice today, bright and sunny, still chilly but not so cold to be unpleasant, so we went for a walk.
I wish we drove so we could get out of the city, into the countryside more often but as we don't we have to make do with local city countryside, which actually isn't all that bad.
I took these photos in Regents Park today, which is right in the middle of the city, and I think you could just about believe they were somewhere much more rural..

Lost and Lonely Seagull
Today was a busy but humdrum day, nothing very inspiring to blog about apart from this rather odd sighting a a lonely seagull in the park as I was walking to work this morning. Funny, because the nearest seaside to London is about 60 miles away. I wonder if it's the awful summer (if you can call it summer) weather we are having. These cool, windy, persistent rainy days must be confusing some of the wildlife for sure!
