Today In Kensington Gardens

Today, as expected was the most amazing weather, so I went to Kensington Gardens,  just me with my book and iPhone.

Wow! Dynamic Views.. BUT....

I so want to use these, they are sooo nice, BUT after having a fiddle about I cannot see any way of having my dear little widgets in the sidebars!

If I have missed something PLEASE let me know!!

Tomorrow!

Photobucket

Just look at the temperature expected for tomorrow! Amazing for late September, and best of all it's my day off!!

So... I am going to leave all chores and errands (they can be done when it rains) and go to the park with my book :)

Pity I don't have anyone to go with me (everyone else is working) but never mind, I must make the most of the day.

I just hope I don't let myself down and be too lazy to get out there, but by posting this it makes me feel a bit more determined.

I will let you know if I go, or I don't.  (I bet you're going to be sitting on the edge of your seat in anticipation - HAHA!!)

The New Neighbour (not suitable for those with a nervous disposition)

Just outside our front door we have a new neighbour. A big fat fella. Caught him eating his lunch this afternoon.

Handsome chap isn't he!

Not All Gadgets Are Great (to me)

A lot of people nowadays are getting electronic readers, in particular Kindle.

Photobucket I don't have a Kindle but I do have the app on my iPad & iPhone, but, I don't use it.

I can't bring myself to buy a book that is not only more expensive than a regular paper copy but after reading it, it can't be lent or passed on to anyone else.

I'm a big lover of my gadgets and gizmos, but I think it's going to be a long long time before I get into the electronic books!

Return To Work

Photobucket
Just two weeks ago I was so excited at having two whole weeks away from work.

It was such a fantastic feeling knowing I would wake up so many mornings and be able to do things I wanted to do rather than things I *had* to do.

But now it's all over..

Had lots of good days out and the weather held out most of the time.

Tomorrow it's back to the old routine, and I'm not looking forward to it at all.

I know most people probably feel the same after having time off, I say most as I do know a lady who looks forward to getting back to work, maybe she enjoys her job more than I do!

The most scary thing is how fast time passes these days!

The next break is Christmas - seems ages away but it'll be round before we know it..

The Road by Cormac McCarthy

The RoadThe Road by Cormac McCarthy

Found it a bit hard going so I gave up and watched the movie..

The movie.. well it was a lot easier to watch than reading the book.

I feel disappointed I gave up, but life's too short, too many books and not enough time!

BIG Orange Panties

When we were walking on the heath the other day we turned a corner and saw this lady.

BIG Orange Panties

We were shocked but I think she was more shocked as she was standing there with no knickers on, she was holding them, big orange ones!

She embarrassedly hopped back into them and made a hasty retreat - but forgot to pull her skirt down over them!

Naughty me couldn't resist taking a quick shot!

I mean, what on earth was she up to?  Having a quick wee maybe? We were not very far from the main road either!

If you happen to be this person, or know her, let me know what was going on!  lol

Hampstead Pergola and Hill Gardens

Today we stayed fairly local and visited Hampstead Pergola and Hill Gardens.

I had never been there before and was pleasantly surprised that it was such a beautiful oasis of calm, and so close to home! (Just a short bus ride away)

I will definitely be going again when I need to be somewhere away from the madding crowd..

New Shopping, Westfield, Stratford City.

Being off work I couldn't resist checking out the new Westfield on the East side of London.

Met up with my daughter (who lives an 8 minute bus ride away from the centre) and we walked our feet off, as did about a trillion other people!

I enjoyed the day, for some reason I preferred this Westfield to the one on the West side of London - not sure why, I just did!

Disgusting Holiday Apartments in Cyprus

My eldest daughter and a friend went to Cyprus yesterday and all is not well.

They booked it hurriedly with no research and have ended up HERE

They didn't read the reviews until yesterday when they were leaving, but tried to stay positive and hoped for the best.

Sadly, the negative reviews are all too real.

They have been trying to get moved to a better place but the reps are not being helpful whatsoever. I have therefore had to transfer some ££ to enable them to find somewhere themselves.

I don't know the details of what is wrong with the apartment as phone calls are way too expensive and there is only so much one can say in a text, but I feel so sorry for them. These holiday people should not be allowed to get away with providing such dreadful places.

I'm sure they will be trying to get some kind of refund/compensation but I'm not holding out much hope :(

Dungeness & Arundel Castle

Yesterday we had a very long day with miles and miles of driving, but it was a good day!

Firstly we visited Dungeness - a rather odd place, a quite desolate place near the sea. The biggest building there being a nuclear power station.

After spending some time there we drove (a long way!) to Arundel Castle:

We spent a few hours in the Castle and the beautiful surrounding gardens.

I love being off work!

Yesterday I visited Faringdon (where my late sister used to live) and Bibury, a picturesque village in Gloucestershire.

It was a day of memories, it was good to show Rob some of the places I hadn't visited for years.

It was sadly yet another grey dreary day (until we were on the motorway coming home) but at least it stayed dry.
