Dinner For Two

Who'd have thought it eh?!

Relative peace between these two most of the time, and eating dinner together is rather nice, but given half a chance Freddie will try eat Mabels food - just in case it's nicer!

So much change in 3 weeks!

So, would YOU ingest such a revolting cocktail?

Most of you would say no,

BUT if you are a smoker this is exactly what you are doing every single puff!

Park of my work is as a smoking cessation advisor and I have used this example with patients - most of them are pretty horrified to think of it in these terms...

Some Differences Between Freddie & Mabel

Amazing how 2 cats can be so different....

Freddie has the most amazingly loud purr whereas Mabel has an almost silent one, we only know she's purring when stroking her neck and can feel the vibration.

Freddie is very vocal and miaows a lot, loudly and persistently when he wants something. Mabel just *meeps* occasionally..

Freddie climbs all over me, and will settle on laps. Mabel rarely settles on anyones lap.

Freddie licks.. a lot.. he tries to lick my face but he will also try to lick any exposed flesh, legs, toes etc, didn't have this with Mabel at all!

It'll be 3 weeks on Sunday that Freddie has been with us and how things have changed.

Mabel was a growling hissing angry kitty for the first 10 days or so, but now she's doing very well, tolerating and even, dare I say semi playing with Freddie!

Wonderful Wednesday - Two

Wednesday being my day off, I decided I'd blog about it each week - which hopefully in someway will prevent me from wasting it!

Got up early thanks to the cats, attended to some household necessities.

Went to the library to collect a book I had reserved, The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks

Had my hair trimmed, it's rather shorter than I had intended, but hey, it'll grow back!

Had a play around with the new look Photo Booth on my laptop..

Thought about going swimming, but didn't, it's been a long long time since I've been in a pool and it's going to take a lot of thinking about before I do it again.

So, I read my book, had a nap (a very rare occurrence for me) which was very nice and much needed, then got dinner ready in time for the homecoming of the Mr..

I think I could get used to this housewifery thing, pity it doesn't pay well!

Temporary Measures Due To Major Spam Attack

I have in the last 24 hours, been under an attack of SPAM!

It's not getting onto the blog as I have moderation on, but it is blocking up my email.

Had over 600 today!

It seems with the newfangled Blogger you can't turn on word verification,

SOOO I have made the blog "members only" for a short period.

Please don't be put off, if I know you, you are welcome to be a member anyway!

Him and Mabel are starting to get along, sometimes..

Not been able to catch a snap of them yet, but I will!

LION should be spelt F.A.I.L!?

When I bought my Mac a few weeks ago I was looking forward to the FREE upgrade to the new operating system called LION..

I got it yesterday and what a disappointment.. I'm sure there are things I *will* like about it, but so far I have not discovered them.

It's argument with Flash is rather distressing.. so many things I do (we do) are Flash based and now.. they are not possible to do!

I don't want a computer that can't do everything I need it to, everything I WANT it to.. It cost enough for goodness sake..

Maybe I should have stayed with Windows, at least we know where we are with that..

This is a poncy semi useless update in my opinion and what the heck is this reverse scrolling FFS!

I'm just hoping I am wrong or that they release an update to allow my computer to do what I want it to SOON!!

Wonderful Wednesday

You may ask why it's wonderful!

It wasn't the weather that's for sure.. what made it wonderful is that I had the day off work - and for the foreseeable I will have most Wednesdays off!

So that makes it WONDERFUL!

Today I had lunch with a friend and caught up on lot's and lot's of goings on.

Maybe (just maybe...) I'll blog about what I do every week, on this wonderful day!

Freddie & Mabel Update & Allergies

Introducing a kitten to a 3 year old cat is not easy, not in this house anyway.

We are having a lot of ups and downs, Mabel does a lot of growling and I think we have a long way to go before she will totally tolerate him.

I'm finding it hard as I don't like seeing Mabel upset, and I don't like hearing Freddie crying to come out of the bedroom we have to keep him in a lot of the time.

I guess it just takes time and a lot of patience.

Now for the worst thing... it seems my partner Rob is allergic to him!

He is fine with Mabel but since we got Freddie he has been chesty, wheezy, sneezy and after holding him has come up in red lumps on his arms :(

I don't know what's going to happen, it's not helping my feelings of stress at the moment that's for sure..

Mouth Troubles

The last 2-3 weeks I've been feeling a bit tense and stressed. Not been sleeping too well and have been extra busy at work.

Usually I can just about deal with "stuff" but this time I have the old familiar symptoms that I have suffered from for years when a bit run down or stressed - and that is mouth ulcers.

Very painful things they are as well and at the moment I have one somewhere in my throat, sort of where the tongue joins on, so it's not easy getting anything on it.

One advantage (maybe) is that I can't eat as easily and talking is somewhat less than normal (I think my partner is pleased about that)

Concerned

I noticed a few days ago someone who I thought was a friend on Twitter unfollowed me, I was a little surprised, but being rather busy this week I had no time to investigate.

This evening I tried to visit her blogs and found them changed to invite only!

I'm concerned, as to why she has cut me out and I'm worried about what I may have unintentionally done to offend her!!

Also, I'm concerned about this lady herself and I hope she's OK!!

EDIT: The mystery is solved and I'm happy to report all is well :)

Meet Freddie!

Meet Freddie..

The newest member of our family.

The humans adore him, he is so very cute.

The one who has big problems with him is Mabel cat.

We have him in a spare bedroom for now and will take our time introducing him to her, hoping she will get used to him.

Running 10K For Charity

Tomorrow my daughter is taking part in the BRITISH 10K LONDON RUN.

Spotted this mini beast on my balcony this evening!

Local Lavender

Walking through a local park on my way to work I have really been enjoying the beautiful natural aroma of the lavender - also enjoyed by the local bees!

iMovie Workshop

Yesterday afternoon we went to an iMovie workshop in the Apple Store Regent Street.

Since getting the Mac I've decided to get the most out of it.

It was fascinating seeing all it can do - and, do it so well.




My head was full of it when we left, but today most of it has misted over somewhat, which is a shame.

Now I have a real sense of the capabilities I guess the best thing is to buy a book!

Been looking on Amazon and there are 3 which look very good,  just wish I knew which would be the best.

....Now just to get some good videos with which to play!
