Having had the Mac for a week now I'm coming across things that completely confuse me!
Back on my Windows computer I always used Picasa for organising my photos - it was/is easy and picks up any images on the hard drive unless you tell it not to. You can hide folders it does find, for example those with music album art - don't need to be seeing those in there.
Now I was hoping to use iPhoto for my organisation - but so far I'm not really liking it. I'm sure it's ok for new photos just uploaded from the camera, but to my mind where it fails is trying to organise photos already on the hard drive, for example ones I copied over from my old PC.
When I go to the Finder and look inside the iPhoto library I'm finding a bizarre selection of photos which I could swear were not even on my old PC let alone the new one. Is it copying them from Flickr?
It also seems that iPhoto "takes over" where your photos are stored and when I imported some old photos into it, it just made copies of them instead of seeing them in the folder they were in previously.
It's all very confusing for a person who likes to be tidy, ordered and know exactly where things are stored.
If I was to want to copy my photos to an external hard drive it seems it would take me ages to locate them.
Maybe I have the wrong end of the stick here?!
Probably no one will have a clue what I'm on about.
Hopefully it might fall into place - eventually?
