TGIF again..

Friday evening at last, the best evening of the week with 2 full days of freedom ahead!

It was a very busy week for me workwise, and I've had very little time for blogging or commenting.

Hopefully I'll catch up over the weekend, but then again, maybe not if the sun is out then so will I be!!

Why? Why? Why?

Why do men (maybe some women as well?) want *faster* cars when the one they already have goes far beyond the legal speed limit of any road, and living in London it's common to have to tootle along at about 10mph??

Why do people Tweet that they are wanting to play a game, for example Words With Friends, then when I start a game.. they don't play?

Why is it that my flat is again an utter mess on Sunday evening when I literally spent 4 solid hours cleaning and tidying on Friday? Grrrrr.....

Naughty Little Monkeys!

These little monkeys residing at Longleat Safari Park were recently given a car to play with in readiness for the “drive-thru” re-opening.

They hadn’t seen any cars for 2 years as a rare virus had been discovered in one of the monkeys so the park had to be closed.

Talk

I lost my Mum in 1988

My Dad in 1997

My Sister in 2002

Sometimes I just want to talk to them, to tell them things and show them stuff...

For them to see how I've changed and grown up since I last saw them.. I think they'd approve :)

Hurrah For John Lewis!!

Update on the problem in my previous post..

I took the box back to John Lewis this morning (a large department store in case you don't know of it) and they refunded me!

All I told them was that it didn't work in my house.

No questions asked!

How's that for customer service?!

Fantastic, I think!!!

Thank you John Lewis for making my Monday :)

Lost Signal..

We don’t have Sky TV, which is fine.

But we do have Freeview and have for some time been thinking about getting a box which allows us to watch TV in High Definition (when being broadcast in HD of course) and to record and pause live TV.

So yesterday I bought one of these..

Photobucket

But alas it’s not working properly. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the box itself but it keeps losing signal, every couple of minutes, so it makes watching anything comfortably quite impossible.

My OH has tried every single setting on every single menu.  He’s updated the firmware and started from scratch, several times!

We’ve checked the Philips site for support, and read through discussion forums – all to no avail.

It wasn’t cheap but I feel it was such a waste of money..

I wonder if the shop will take it back?

Bacon Accident!

I'm in the doghouse..

All because I ate his bacon!

I didn't mean to, it was an accident, sort of...

But I did cook dinner and do his washing and wash the dishes and, and , and...

Time to forgive me?

Expensive To Be Sick In England

It's cheaper to be unwell in Scotland, Ireland and Wales, this is because of
the abolition of prescription charges everywhere apart from England, where our charges have in fact risen!!

It's not that I want free prescriptions, in fact I don't think they should be free at all!

All countries should pay a fair price, maybe £2.00 per item..

I feel if everything is free it opens the doors to abuse, where patients expect a prescription for everything, such as the basic cheap paracetamol which most people reach for when they have minor pain.

As it stands though there's a big inequality, free.. against £7.40 per item.

It's not just prescriptions where these inequalities lie either, read about them..
HERE

I know people in other parts of the world pay vast amounts of money for medicines, I do appreciate that and I'm sure this post may annoy some..

But surely in this "Great" Britain we should at least all be treated the same!

Bad Mad Barbie

Not sure where I found this pic, but it's a very well made scene..

Gory but somehow cute.

OK, call me sick! lol

Music Night With Spotify

Saturday evening, nothing much worth watching on the TV yet again.

We have Freeview but not Sky so our choices are more limited.

Could always watch a film I suppose but what I do enjoy is putting my earphones on and exploring Spotify

Spotify along with iTunes *scrobbles what I listen to so you can see a list here on Last.fm

(*Scrobbling a song means that when you listen to it, the name of the song is sent to Last.fm and added to your music profile)

It’s a great way to listen to new stuff that you’d not really be sure about wanting to own, and if you do love something, well then it’s nice to buy it!

See what I listen to by checking the Last.fm widget in the left sidebar or HERE

Oh and feel free to add me as a contact there Smile

Zero Energy

I've worked mostly the same hours for years now.

I used to be able to go to work, come home, do bits and pieces round the house, maybe pop out for the occasional Nandos, see a friend etc

More recently all I can do is go to work, come home, make something quick to eat and then f-l-o-p.

I have zero energy.

It's horrible, it's like I have no life apart from work during the week, even weekends I feel I'm in some kind of recovery mode and frequently struggle through the chores and shopping.

Is this what getting older is like?

Is it all downhill from here?
