Into The Darkness

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Now we have put the clocks back it feels like the winter has really begun (apart from the mild temperatures that we currently have!)

Soon we will be waking up in the dark, coming home in the dark.

But with very little daylight during the day (I work in a windowless room and get only a 30 minute lunch break each day) it can easily be a recipe for misery.

I am not a fan of this time of year….

Longer Lasting Poppies

Instead of buying a poppy that I normally lose, this year I decided to buy something a little longer lasting!

When I got home today these 2 items were waiting for me:

A rather cute jute poppy shopping bag:

And this little poppy pin badge:

I Love Faggots!

PhotobucketThey are a quick easy meal with potatoes

boiled, mashed, roasted or fried and some vegetables, (preferably lots and lots of veggies – yum yum)

They have been around for years and years, we used to have them when I was a child.

Back then I was confused, thinking that somehow, they were made from BRAINS… still enjoyed them though!

Fancy A Patterned Car?

I was wondering today why we don't have patterned cars?

They are almost always plain colours although today I saw one with painted handprints all over it. ( pity I wasn't fast enough to catch a shot of it)

I'd quite fancy one with a Cath Kidston design on it..

What about you?

Dunstable Downs

Spent some time at Dunstable Downs today.

It’s a beautiful place to walk and take in the magnificent views.

Lucky I wrapped up well though as it was VERY COLD up on the hill!

Plenty of people there, flying kites, watching the gliders and just walking, which we did quite a lot of!

Itchy Fingers

In the past few months I have been getting some small outbreaks of mild eczema.

I’ve never had it before but I know plenty about it as two of my children had it, in fact still do to a certain extent.

It’s really annoying, the itching is the worst thing after the soreness.

At the moment I have it on my fingers, which is very inconvenient as I am a frequent handwasher, at home and at work – always have been so that can’t be the cause.

So, even though what I have is mild compared to some, I’m battling here with lot’s of emollients and some steroid creams.

Retirement Question

At what age can you retire from work in your part of the world?

The government here in UK is now putting up the age of retirement to 66!!

Photobucket

I really don’t think I can work till that age, well certainly not doing what I do now anyway.

Might be needing a job that has Zimmer Frame access for employees at this rate!

Heavenly Reading

Today before work I ended up in the local library, more to pass a little spare time than to look at the books. I have a rather large pile of books at home waiting to be read.

But this little book caught my eye:

I remember when it was first out and prominently displayed in all the bookshops, but I never bought it.

So I borrowed it despite my library card having expired since 2008 – nice library man!

So better get off this computer and get reading as I only have it till November 8th!

What Have I Done?

I want to go walking, ride my bike, read my books, watch dvd's, take a nap, sort out my clothes, clean the house, and so much more.

This weekend I have had time to all of these things and guess which ones I did?

NONE..

I am an effing waste of space right now.. I get on my own bleedin nerves, I don't know why I waste so much time. It'll be Monday and I'll be hating the fact yet another weekend has gone down the drain, a good weather one as well :(

If I'm honest I do sort of know why I am so pathetic.. Not sure I can reveal that here though without fear of..

Grrrrrrrr......

Instagram, Another Lovely iPhone App

Photobucket

Take a quick snap, apply an effect and send to Flickr, or Twitter Or Facebook or Tumblr or Foursquare.. or all at once.

You set up an instagram account then follow others and view others photos.

I’m sure there are other apps out there that do this but this one is, to me, just lovely.

If you have an iPhone and like taking photos, why not give it a try, after all it’s FREE

Find it HERE

And don’t forget to add me as a friend :)

Time

Photobucket

This week I have felt tired and irritable for most of the time.

Work has been crazily busy and has left me with no energy for myself at the end of the day.

Hate it when it’s like this, work, eat, sleep – over and over and over..

The only light at the end of the tunnel is that it’s almost the weekend!

I only do a half day tomorrow then maybe, just maybe I’ll have some time and energy for myself…

An Evening At The Theatre

Last night I went to the Hampstead Theatre to see the play “Enlightenment".

I mentioned it here a few days ago.Image Source

Now I am no professional reviewer of such things but I enjoyed it enough, it’s amazing how the actors remember all those lines!

I can’t analyse or pick it apart as some may do, but it was a pleasant evening out for me. (Don’t forget I don’t get out much, well not to plays and such anyway! lol)

I’m sure it wasn’t to everyone's taste, there was a fair bit of swearing, and a teeny bit of nudity.

I noticed 2 ladies sitting close to me did not return after the interval – maybe it was past their bedtime, who knows!

Anyway, thanks to the Hampstead Theatre for inviting me!

Ikea Cats – The Making Of

When I first saw this Ikea advert (the first video) I imagined it was filmed in a studio with lots of trickery..

Oh no….

Just watch the second video to see it was in fact filmed in my local Ikea in Wembley, imagine 100 cats let loose in such a huge store!!

Vaccination Day

This beautiful young lady had her booster vaccinations today.

It was a stressful morning for her and now she is sleeping! Mabel

Enlightenment At Hampstead Theatre

“A gap-year student travelling in the Far East disappears, and his parents are suddenly in limbo. Unsure who to turn to, or even whether he's alive or dead, they frantically seek clues, comfort and strength. But as the truth emerges, a net of lies and deceit - darker than anything they had imagined - begins to close in around them…”

Sounds interesting doesn’t it!?

Well I’ve been invited to go and see this in the Hampstead Theatre, which although not far from me, I’ve never visited..

I’m really looking forward to it and will let you know how it goes, in fact, better still, book a couple of tickets and come see it yourself!
