Not Tonight

I have lot's to do online, catch up on your blogs, check out some new ones, etc, etc.

But, I'm not putting the computer on as I have a yucky headache - one if those persistent ones that only women know about, get my drift?!

Plus, it's nearly bedtime and... Ughhh it's only 9pm and already getting dark!

Hire A Bike In London

All over London these bicycle docking stations are popping up.

P1000281 P1000282

They will soon be filled with bicycles for hire.

P1000286

You can hire one for a few hours then return it to the nearest docking station.

P1000284 P1000283

I don’t need to hire as I have my own but I think it’s a great idea and I hope it catches on!

The Final Graduation

Yesterday was my eldest daughters university graduation.

I am so proud of her, it has been a long hard struggle for her but she got there!

It was a very long day, which of course I wanted to go as smoothly as possible, but inevitably there were a few hiccups.

Not being able to find the building where she was to pick up the robe.

Realising the said building was a good 10 minutes walk from the ceremony hall, no fun in heels, having to do it 3 times and on an extremely tight time schedule, even though we had not arrived at all late!

Stepping slap bang in a puddle in my pretty white heels.

Losing the tickets (then finding them about an hour later in a soggy mess in the street)

Queuing for ages in a sweltering room for the official photographs, getting hot, sweaty and flushed – nice just before a photo (not)

Graduation

Otherwise the day went well, after the ceremony and lots more photos the 7 of us had a lovely meal before making the 2 hour journey back home down the M1.

Phew, that’s all three of them done now :)

(The photo is me, my 3 kids and their dad, sorry it has been “fiddled” with but we are a little shy lol)

Hell Fire Caves & West Wycombe

Being off work is great and today, Monday the weather was fantastic so we visited The Hell Fire Caves in West Wycombe.

We not only enjoyed the caves but the beautiful countryside surroundings!

Week Off & Graduation

Photobucket

I now have a whole week off work!

It’s the first break since Christmas so very, very welcome.

I’m not going away anywhere but hope to take a few daytrips as well as attend my oldest daughters university graduation up Norf somewhere!

Don’t think I mentioned that did I?

She got a 2:1 (3 points off a first) so is very happy – clever girl :)

I might, just might post some piccies after the event!

Tired, from cycling back and forth to work - but thats OK.

Tired, from working in a non ventilated stuffy room at 30c all day - not OK.

It maybe cooler outside but my workplace is still way too HOT :(

Fairy Tattoo

Do you like tattoos?

I’d never have one personally but everyone to their own I say.

My daughters friend had this one done at the weekend, it took just over 5 hours.

Five hours of pain!!

Now guess how much it cost – it shocked me – scroll down to see..

My Basket!

Photobucket

I have re-discovered cycling!

My poor bike has sat collecting dust for far too long but yesterday I decide to cycle to work, and I loved it all over again.

I took my bits and pieces in a small rucksack but it made me soo hot, a temperature of about 30c didn’t help but nonetheless I was hotter than I should have been.

So today I bought a basket to go on the front and the difference it makes being able to put my bag in there instead of on my back! It’s fantastic!

It was a long ride to the cycle shop and back, so now I’m quite exhausted but also very elated - we wont mention my rather sore underparts!  lol

Just need to get some flowers to weave round the front of the basket and I’m done!

Groceries From Amazon?

I find it very strange that Amazon now sells groceries!

Would you buy yours there?

Can’t see myself doing so, it just seems weird. I prefer to go to the supermarket although I have on occasion had a delivery from my regular store – Sainsburys.

I think Amazon have been doing this for some time in other countries, so, will you? have you?

Share your experiences and thoughts!

I went to the hospital today to get the results of my recent breast ultrasound and mammogram.

I have one every year (which is not the norm in UK) as my sister had breast cancer in her 30’s and passed away just turned 40.

Happy to say all is well.

I do have some fibroadenomas and a cyst and it was offered to have these removed, but this time I declined.

I had a large fibroadenoma removed about 5 years ago and unless the ones I have now change or get much bigger I prefer not to have surgery.

So, appointments have been made for next year for repeat checks.

Now it’s time to make that appointment for the smear test – the things we women have to go through!

Name That Bird - If You Can

This is a recording of a bird that makes a lot of noise most mornings.

Just wondering if anyone knows what it is?

Just To *Be*

I’ve lived in London more years than I have lived anywhere else.

But I was brought up in a much more rural environment and that’s where I would like to be now, back in the countryside.

I didn’t appreciate it as a rowdy teenager and couldn’t wait to get away to the bright lights and the streets paved of gold (or so I imagined) in London.

Nowadays I love to get away for a day, or even a few hours. To walk the paths in the woods, to enjoy the sense of peacefulness and quiet that is never really present in this hectic city.

Today my partner and I took the shortish drive to the small Quaker village of Jordans.

Not a lot to see there but greenery, but as we walked through the woods we came across a bench where I was happy to sit, just to *be*

To think, relax, daydream, remember, meditate, to breathe.

It reminded me how as a child I would wander the fields at the back of my house, often just accompanied by my lively imagination – such fascinating times…

Unfortunately we didn’t sit for as long as I would have liked to as my partner was getting fidgety.. He had nothing to do and with no 3G signal on his phone he was lost!  lol

Of course I took a few photos:

Gay Pride

Just a few photos I took at today’s Gay Pride.

Didn’t take as many as I’d have liked to as it was hot and crowded and being rather short I couldn’t always see what I wanted to!  lol

In The Petshop

In The Petshop, originally uploaded by LadyBanana.
It was very difficult to resist these little kitties all lined up here hoping to find a home.

I don't know why I keep going to the petshop, but it's not far from where I work and I just can't resist!

We are thinking of getting a little friend for Mabel, but it has to be timed just right so we can settle it in nicely.
