£15 MILLION HOME!!

£15 MILLION HOME!!, originally uploaded by LadyBanana.
Walking past a rather classy estate agents today I noticed this little place - a snip at £15 MILLION don't you think!

I personally think it's rather disgusting, no one needs to live in such a place!

A Little Bit Rocky

I don’t normally go for music that’s a bit rocky, but somehow stumbled upon this and I love it...

This track is the best but I actually like most of the album “The Resistance”

Saturday Centus - Alone

It’s Saturday again and time for a meme which I really look forward to thanks to Jenny

This weeks Prompt:

May I help you, miss? You look puzzled.”

“Mmmm… thank you, I’m just looking for my father. We came in together a moment ago, but he seems to have wandered off.”

“We were heading for the coffee shop when a crowd of women bumped into us, when I looked around he was gone.”

“He is a big man, 6 foot tall, well built, please help me find him, he’s not well, he is diabetic and needs his medication.”

“Don’t worry, I will radio store security and we can check the CCTV for you, follow me to the office, you can sit there.”

I sat down as the security man started to playback the video and was totally mystified when it shows me entering the store quite alone....

41% Addicted

I used to be a real StumbleUpon addict - but not so much these days.

Seems I have less time to mess around although I'm not sure why, life is much the same.

Today I saw this little quiz thingy and thought I'd see what it came up with - I answered pretty much as honestly as I could yet it came up with 41% and considering I rarely use it now it’s quite a high figure!

Anyway it's just a bit of midweek fun..

Do you use StumbleUpon?

Two Things About Money & Responsibility

Photobucket

The first thing that came to my notice a day or two ago was the proposition by the NHS to pay people to adopt healthier lifestyles.

These payments would be in the form of “rewards” for stopping smoking and losing weight.

I can’t believe anyone would ever consider this, the whole idea disgusts me, people need to take responsibility for themselves.

I work (somewhere) in the NHS and it would truly pee me off if I had to have anything to do with such a scheme!

The second thing about money is the new governments announcement that they are axing the Child Trust Fund payments.

(These are payments to newborn children of £250 and topped up at aged 7 with another £250, but can’t be touched until 18 years old)

I’m rather pleased these are stopping. I think it’s ridiculous to pay out all this “public” money to every child born here.

When my kids were born back in the 80’s I opened a bank account for each of them so all monetary gifts were paid into it, from Christenings and birthdays etc.

And if I ever had a spare £1 or so I’d pay that in as well so when they did turn 18 there was an (albeit small) nest egg for them.

I reckon if you have kids you need to take responsibility for them yourself not expect the government to give handouts like that.

I bet you think I’m a right old meanie now!

Feelin’ Hot, Hot, Hot!

Photobucket

This weekend England has been roasting in much awaited summer temperatures around 29c (84f)

I sat out in it yesterday for just a little too long. I am now a rather over cooked banana, so today I was careful to pick a more shady spot to relax in!

It was on the news that the temps here were higher than many typical holiday resorts such as Greece.

It’s at time like this I wish we lived near the sea!

Still I don’t think it’ll last long, after all next weekend is bound to be horrible weather as it’s a Bank Holiday!

Cute Kitty Or What?

Saturday Centus - Kidnapped

This weeks prompt:

I look back over my shoulder, squinting into the late afternoon sun, gawking with stunned alarm at the broad rolling muddy waters of the Mississippi.

At least that’s where I imagined I was, I had faintly overheard one of the men say Mississippi, but I couldn’t be totally sure.

I was hoping at least they would not notice I had managed to slightly slip the blindfold off my eyes.

Being buffeted around in the back of a truck was bad enough but not being able to get any visual clues was even worse, it made me feel nauseous and dizzy.

Thankfully I had not vomited, or I would have probably choked to death with this god awful gag over my mouth..

4head Pain

PhotobucketI’ve always suffered a lot of headaches. I’ve tried loads of different pills and potions over the years with varying degrees of success.

Recently, fairly reluctantly, I decided to try 4head. It’s a kind of roll on stuff you just apply to the forehead.

I never expected it to really work but surprisingly it does help.

It doesn’t totally relieve the pain but it does definitely help, a lot more than I expected.

A few seconds after applying it you get the tingle and cold feeling followed by a slight sense of muscle relaxation.

This is not an ad or anything, just sharing a bit of possibly useful info!

Memory Of Yesterday

Today is a typical Sunday, grey wet and very gloomy.

Amazingly, yesterday was totally different – we got to spend some time in Richmond Park taking photo’s of some very beautiful flowers.

Saturday Centus – Passions Fly High

I didn’t get to do this on week 1 but here goes for week 2

Prompt:

The small Cessna 172 picked up speed as it roared down the runway, Sara at the controls, the flight instructor beside her,

..her stomach turned, a thousand butterflies fluttered in her chest but she knew it was now or never.

She turned briefly glancing at her very handsome instructor trying to keep last’s nights events from her mind, nothing was going to spoil her moment.

As the plane built up speed so did her heart and then almost as if by magic she was up in the air, the fields becoming a mere checkerboard below her.

The elation she felt brought tears to her eyes and at that very same moment she realised how very much she wanted him...

Bye Bye Little Bird..

Feeling a bit sad…

My lovely naughty cat Mabel bought in a very unwanted gift for me.

A very tiny baby bird.

I know it’s nature and all that but nonetheless very upsetting as the poor little thing scuttled and fluttered about under the sofas, the desk, behind the tv, into the kitchen and back several times before I managed to find and pick it up.

It didn’t seem to be badly injured but there were drops of blood on the kitchen towel I held it in.

I honestly didn’t know what to do with it, so I put it into my little garden under some leaves.

I’m sure it’s dying, if not from injury from being away from it’s nest and maybe I should stop it’s suffering but I can’t bring myself to do anything.

I have locked Mabel indoors for the time being.

Before I put it down in the leaves I took a photo..

Bye bye sweet little bird, I am SO sorry my cat caught you….

My First Mobile Phone

When did you get your first mobile phone and what was it like?

Mine was the Motorola Graphite back in 1997.

And guess what, I still have it (noooo it doesn’t work lol)

How things have changed!

Even had to pull the aerial up..

I so prefer my iPhone :)

Elephants All Over London

There are elephants all over London.

Over 250 brightly painted life sized elephants!

Each decorated by a different artist or celebrity, the elephants brighten and beautify the city, enhancing every park, street corner and building they grace. Running from May to July 2010, this is London’s biggest outdoor art event on record.

The reason being – they hope to raise money!

The Asian elephant is a truly magnificent creature. But sadly it’s on the brink of extinction, marooned in ever-decreasing pockets of forest by the spread of human settlements, farming, mining and railways.

More Info:

Elephant Family

and

Elephant Parade

So far I’ve been lucky to spot 4 of them, but I hope to see a lot more in the coming weeks!

Upsy, Downsy

This past week or so has been somewhat over eventful in the moods department.

I’ve tried to write a post about it but I can’t seem to find the right words without making me sound a complete and utter crackpot, or just a whiny old woman.

But I feel I should acknowledge it here as it is what has been happening to me.

So, no details, just things are a bit upsy downsy at the moment with little warning what each new day will bring – not the nicest of situations.

I have a distinct feeling things are not helped by hormones and age – or is that an excuse I ask myself?

Gratitude Award

A big thank you to Posh Totty for this lovely award!

Photobucket

Now I need to write five things that I am grateful for and then pass this onto five other bloggers to write about their five.

1: Grateful for my health, even though I have lot's of aches and pains I am still here, neither my Mum or my Sister lived to my age.

2: Grateful I met my lovely partner who (mostly) keeps his quirky sense of humour through all my difficult and moody times and manages to get me through them.

3: Grateful I have 3 wonderful grown up children who are well and able to take care of themselves in this big wide world.

4: Grateful I have a job even though I really dislike it sometimes, I'm sure it's better than being unemployed (Unless of course we win the lottery, then that would be a different story!)

5: Grateful for the nature that’s all around and brings me much pleasure, trees, flowers, small animals (especially my beautiful Mabel cat)

I would like to pass this award onto:

My Top Five Commenters! See list ---->

You are all another reason to be grateful, for your regular visits and comments, thank you :)

Another One Of Those Changes

Anyone who knows me will know how I dislike change.

Today a big change happened in my life – my youngest daughter moved out.

It’s not the first time as she spent 3 years away in university and then came back home to live.

But this time it’s her pure choice to move out and live with 2 of her girlfriends.

My partner Rob and I helped her take all her stuff to the new place.

It’s (thankfully) still in London but way over in E3, which is about 45 mins drive for us.

It is a lovely flat, much bigger and nicer than where I live, so that’s good.

She has a view of the new Olympic Stadium from her window, so it’s pretty much in the re-generation area of the East End with lots of building works going on.

Olympic Stadium

Yet on the other side is this: E3

But I’m sure it won’t be long before it’s replaced by something new and lovely!

So now I have to get used to having an empty nest again, to hold back the scary feeling of not being needed anymore and wondering where did all those years go…

Still it won’t be long till my older daughter comes home from uni to fill the gap!
