In a brief moment of blue sky and sunshine about a week ago I got this lovely shot of Mabel.
As I’ve not posted any photos of her here for a while I thought it would be nice to share..

If you have a spare 7 minutes or so just relax and watch this delightful (but somewhat strange) short film:
It started with:
The worst case of PMS in ages, which consisted of sore boobs, foul, angry, depressed mood and headache for days, not relieved by any form of available pain relief. I was a total monster for days and days – not a good feeling!
Major changes at work causing lot’s of stress and uncertainty.
Lack of hot water.
Lack of sleep.
Raining and muddy every single time I went out.
I know it could have been a lot lot worse but I’m just so happy it’s now the weekend, and it was still daylight as I walked home from work!
This is a little bit rude, so if easily offended please scroll down to next post…
(but it is very funny and a valuable lesson)
I have worn glasses since I was 14 for distance, I remember being devastated but amazed that I could actually see the blackboard at school again!
Now at the ripe old age of uhmmmmm… I am sadly realising it may not be long before I really need reading glasses.
I can read most text but I am finding it increasingly difficult to see the smaller text on food labels, and sadly on my iPhone.
So, I guess I’ll have to get a pair of varifocal glasses which I hasten to add I am DREADING!
I get dizzy very easily, even when I get new distance glasses I feel rather wobbly for the first week or so, so how I would take to varifocals? I have no idea…
I know the alternative is to have one pair for distance and another for close up but that would also be a lot of hassle.
Maybe my recent headaches are due to some eyestrain.. not sure.
So, I would be interested in any experiences you may have had with these dreaded varifocals?
I know I’m going to keep putting it off until I am just about blind!
Little Miss Mabel Cat bought a gift into the house this morning when I was away at work.
It was a gift for one of my daughters – she wasn’t amused to say the least!
And no!! We are not having pigeon pie for dinner tonight!
(Not a very good photo but taken in a moment of great stress by daughter! lol)
Where did the last 4 days go!
It’s been 4 days since I had my computer on and updated my blog. Not that long I guess but still…
I spent most of Sunday (Valentines Day) asleep as I had another stinky headache.
Since then it’s been work and eat and sleep.
Nothing nice or remotely interesting happens nowadays.
I notice I have lots and lots of blog posts to catch up with in Google Reader.
It might take me some time!
Whoo hoo it's been a long time since I got an award so that makes it even more exciting, thank you Jaydubblah.
How I long for some real sunshine!
Now as with any award there are a few rules
- Put the logo on your blog or within your post.
- Pass the award onto 12 bloggers. (this is a very flexible rule!)
- Link the nominees within your post.
- Let the nominees know they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
- Share the love and link to the person from whom you received this award.
Now I am going to break the rules and award all my top commenters, as after all they are my regular and most deserving visitors! So check the list in the right side bar (sorry I know I am terribly lazy lol)
Most Dr’s surgery’s I know of use the Jayex board to call patients into the consultation room.
It makes a beep to attract your attention and displays your name and the room number you should go to.
Good idea, saves the Dr having to pop out of the room to call each patient.
However, being a Dr’s surgery there is a very high standard of confidentiality practiced, so does this breach your rights to confidentiality?
I know from working experience a few patients have objected to their name being emblazoned in front of everyone.
But it hasn’t really caused any real problems that I know of.
But recently a situation arose which could have been quite difficult.
My daughter was waiting to see her GP surgery a couple of weeks ago and a guy she described as “odd and rather eccentric” kept talking to her.
She was called into the Dr by the illuminated screen and forgot about this guy until late that evening when she noticed he had requested her “friendship” on Facebook!!
She had not told him her name but he obviously saw it flash up on the screen and attempted to add her.
Good job her Facebook account is restricted so he was not able to glean any further details about her and she did not accept his request so hopefully no more will be heard of this guy.
But it makes you think…Could have been a stalker!
A couple of weeks ago I had one of the worst migraines ever which caused me to take time off work.
Having tried various meds in an effort to either prevent or halt them in the past, (all to no avail) I decided to re-visit my GP.
So, just over a week ago I started taking a daily dose of Propanolol in the hope of preventing another attack.
Propanolol is a beta-blocker, commonly used to treat high blood pressure.
However, one of the possible side effects is tiredness and guess what, I am feeling very very tired- all the flippin time!!
I don’t want to stop the pills yet, I don’t want to give up but I’m not sure how long I can function with such a weary feeling and such achy legs.
Seems to be a choice between, all the time tiredness and the devil of a migraine once or twice a month..
A few days ago I came across a recipe on one of my favourite blogs, Bubblegum Diaries, for a fast fix chocolate cake made in a mug.
I just had to try it!
It looks funny the way it's risen up above the mug and it scared me a bit whilst it was in the microwave but as they say the proof is in the pudding..
It was yummy!
Here’s the recipe: (Blatantly pinched form Technodoll, hope she wont kill me!)
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE (aka Bullet Cake)
Add dry ingredients to the mug and mix well.
Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Ta-dah… we have cake, chocolate cake!!!
Thanks Technodoll :)
But I don’t mean to be…
I post fairly regularly, not everyday as I used to, which is OK as I don’t like to overload people, so that’s not so bad.
I try my best to come and comment on your blogs as often as I can, and even when I don’t have the energy to type a single word I try to read all your posts.
The bit I feel really bad about is not replying to your comments on my blog – that is bad…
But I do want to say I really really do appreciate all your comments and I usually read and moderate them from my phone with the intention of replying later.. Sadly that rarely happens, time flies by and I’m too tired, it’s too late, there’s other stuff to attend to etc etc..
So, please, don’t give up adding your tuppence worth, it is worth a lot more than that to me and you never know I might actually get round to replying one of these days!
