Harajuku Lovers

These are five gorgeous little perfumes I received for Christmas just gone.

Love, Music, Angel, Baby and G – that’s Gwen Stefani.

They came in a circular box which when open looks like a dolls house.

They are so cute don't you think? Harajuku Lovers

8 Hours Free Time?

Photobucket

Generally speaking we have 8 hours out of every 24 that are ours to do with as we please..

There are 8 hours spent at work and 8 hours asleep which leaves us 8 hours totally free time..…

Apart that is from getting up, showering, ironing, dressing, eating breakfast, washing up, making sandwiches, travelling to work.

Travelling home from work, shopping, cooking, cleaning, washing, tidying (add your own chores here) ad infinitum… Ha!

I think we need another 8 hours to fit it all in! Whahhhhh!!

Doggy Shock

Photobucket

A girlfriend of mine recently told me about something that happened to her dog just after Christmas.

She was walking her in the park as usual and several male dogs came flocking round trying to have some “fun” with her. Seemed she (the dog) was loving the attention.

Nothing odd there you might think, the dog is just in heat! However this little doggy was spayed just weeks after I got my cat done early last year!

For some reason I felt utterly horrified that the vet had obviously missed something. He (the vet) has promised to try to rectify this situation with a scan and unfortunately another operation.

I never imagined this could happen..

Poor little doggy having to go through all that again!

Iris

I don’t watch many films for some reason but I recently bought this one and watched it this afternoon.

iris

“Iris, based on the life of revered British writer and philosopher Iris Murdoch, is a story of unlikely yet enduring love. As a young academic, teaching philosophy at Oxford, Murdoch meets and eventually falls in love with fellow professor John Bayley, a man whose awkwardness seems in stark opposition to the spirited self-confidence of his future wife. The story unfolds as snippets of time, seen through Bayley's eyes. He recalls their first encounter over 40 years ago, activities they enjoyed doing together, and Iris' charismatic and individualistic personality. These images portray Murdoch as a vibrant young woman with great intellect and are contrasted with the novelist's later life, after the effects of Alzheimer's disease have ravaged her. Murdoch's great mind deteriorates until she is reduced to a mere vestige of her former self, unable to perform simple tasks and completely reliant on her at times frustrated yet devoted husband.

A moving and tender depiction of the novelist Iris Murdoch's descent into Alzheimer's Disease, covering the period from just before her marriage to intellectual John Bayley until her death.”

Summary taken from IMDB

I found it very touching and a stark, terrifying reminder that this could happen to any of us…

Blogger In Draft Has Pages!

Now us Blogger bloggers can have up to 10 static pages to add to our blogs. Read about them HERE

Sounds like a brilliant idea, just don’t know what to put there yet!

So for now there is just one added showing (yet again - lol) my Flickr photos, but this could change at anytime!

See the “ My Pages” links on the right sidebar..

Murderous Migraine

This past week started off as any other, it was OK.

Then Tuesday afternoon at work I began feeling odd, I had illusions of ziggy zaggy patterns at the edge of my vision and my head began to hurt.

I knew it was the start of a migraine.

However as I was meeting a friend that evening I took some painkillers and hoped it would lift.

I was wrong.. I thought I was dying on Wednesday and silly me went to work (Rob calls me the martyr)

Thursday I had to take the day off and spent most of it sleeping, still feeling very unwell.

Today, Friday I am feeling very delicate, although much improved but have decided not to go to work.

This kind of migraine is so awful, not just the head pain but the nausea, and the general all over feeling of illness and weakness.

I think it’s time to visit the Dr and see if I can get some help. In the past I have tried Zomig which didn’t help much, I tried Pizotifen but could not stay awake!

Do you have any ideas/meds which help you?

Lovely Lebanese Lunch

I woke up with a nasty cold but being a woman (hahaha) didn’t let it get the better of me!

The sun was shining and the temperature was a lot easier to deal with at about 8c so my partner and I decided have lunch at a new place which opened recently.

Comptoir Libanais is described as a Lebanese Canteen & Delicatessen, with a taste of the Middle East..

Comptoir Libanais

We both agreed it was delicious!

I had the Meze for One and Rob had Chicken sharwarma.

We will definitely be going back there again and again to try the entire menu!

Saturday Mooching

Feeling somewhat coldy today so I’ve done very little.

Got showered and dressed eventually about 5pm (shame on me eh!)

Spent just about all day mooching around online.

Found out I have been using Twitter for way too long:

“Tweeting 2 years, 10 months, 3 weeks, 1 hour, 51 minutes, 1 second (Feb. 25, 2007). How about you? FIND OUT HERE

Spent a long time playing with photos on Picnik but have nothing to show for it today.

Hope to be a bit more lively tomorrow, also hope the weather is a little less dull and grey, that would be good!

Back To Grey And Boring

Back to work this week, the first full week for a while and it’s hard.

The snow has just about all gone now and it’s dull and grey again.

I’ve not got anything to blog about because nothing remotely interesting has happened.

So, I’ll be back soon I hope, maybe I need to get out and make something happen!

Just remembered…

Took this pic yesterday, poor old unwanted Christmas trees,
and yes, all that snow has gone just 24 hours later!

A Touch Of Colour

For my birthday my daughters bought me (amongst other things) the most beautiful bunch of flowers.

A real treat of colour in this bleak white and grey mid-winter.

Frozen At Camden Lock

Went for a stroll in the ice today, just about managed to stay upright and took a few photos of the very frozen Camden Lock.

Note the very aptly named pub in the first pic!

Happy Scary Birthday To ME!

Today is my birthday.

Feels very odd as I am now at an age I have worried about for a long time - the age my Mum was when she passed away...

I know it's silly but I find it quite scary, really brings it home that I, we, could go at anytime. My Mum went suddenly and totally unexpectedly..

So, better get up and make the most of not only today but every day!

The Office Of The 1950’s

Had the day off today, so I scanned a few of the millions of photos I have waiting.

This is one of my Mum at work in the typing pool some years before I was born.

If you click through to Flickr you can see which one is my Mum!

COLD!!!

Photobucket

I was horrified to wake up this morning to find we have no heating.

Why now when it’s minus something temperatures all day long!?

It took a lot of courage to strip off and get into the shower (thankfully there was hot water!)

This evening it’s on but very low, just about enough to stop icicles forming on the end of my nose.

We have also been warned of impending snow so the outdoor temperature isn’t going to improve for a while yet!

I’m pleased that for once we are having a “proper” winter, like the ones I remember when I was a kid, but having little or no heating is very bad luck.

Hoping it will be fixed properly tomorrow, if not then I’m coming to yours to warm up! ;)

Fun With Photos

Not feeling the best today for some reason, probably because I have to go back to work tomorrow. I think I have work phobia – I was fine all over the holidays!

So I stayed in the warm and played around with some photos I took of an old doll that belonged to  - you will laugh – my son.

I got it for him to try and ease the jealousy he felt when his first sister was born, he enjoyed looking after it as I looked after the new baby.

Anyway here are a few of the shots, that I quite like:

What To Do With Old CD’s?

Had a really good clear out today.

My son came over and took a lot of his belongings that he had left here when he had left to work in Dubai a few years ago.

I got rid of several big bags of “stuff” I no longer want, stuff I have no idea why I kept in the first place!

We also have a huge quantity of music CD’s that both myself and my partner have decided not to keep any longer. What’s the point of them collecting dust in a corner of our already small flat when we have digitised them all long ago.

We are not sure what to do with them really. The easy option is to give them to a charity shop, but if I’m honest it would be nice to get a few £££ for them, but selling seems such a long job to me and I’ll probably take the easy option.

Anyway, I’m pleased it’s done, a fresh start for the new year, pity I’ve just about broken my back doing it though :(

So, Here We Are..

Photobucket

The start of a New Year and a new decade.

Not making any real resolutions but I do want to try to be a bit more positive and a little less of a procrastinator!

I hope to look back on 2010 and say yes, didn’t I do a lot (of what I have no idea yet) as looking back on 2009 I can’t see what I did other than exist really.

I hope we can all make the most the the following 12 months, the speed at which the last 12 went by was quite scary, it’s making me realise how fast life is going by –  so we need to do “it” as soon as possible.

So, whatever that “it” is for you I hope you do it well, enjoy it and make the most of it.
