Refunds And Exchanges

When I was buying presents for my eldest daughter I knew it didn’t really matter what I bought as I knew she would not like them.

She is the fussiest person on earth, but over the years we have come to learn to live with that fact so when ever buying any type of gift we have to make sure the store has a good refund and exchange policy.

So today, that’s what we did…. We went out into the freezing cold wind and rain to tramp around the overcrowded shops with rails and rails of sale items all mixed up into a vile mess, to queue in a never ending line of people to be served by assistants seemingly working in slow motion to take back/exchange her presents.

You may well wonder why we don’t just get her gift vouchers.. well it was certainly considered but she gets upset with just vouchers as she has nothing to open!

Anyway, thankfully it’s done now, our regular post Christmas routine!

Toilet Train Your Cat?

I know having a litter box is a bit of a pain but would you attempt to train your kitty to use the toilet?

I'm lucky as Mabel does all her business outside now.

I do have a litter box for the night time, just in case, but she's not used it for weeks now.

Even if she did use the litter box I really can’t imagine trying to train her – have a watch of the video, would you do it?

Or have you done it?

My Lost Family

I don’t send many Christmas cards nowadays, most people I’d send to either I see them regularly or we’ve lost contact so what’s the point.

I have a small family of 3 kids and partner. My parents and only sister have passed away.

There are a couple of estranged Aunts and Uncles and cousins.

We all used to send cards to one another but then it somehow stopped – until this year.

I decided to send each one a card in the hope that not only they still lived where they used to but perhaps our relationships may be re-kindled a little.

I received one card back from an Uncle, who wished me Happy Christmas and added a note to say one of my Aunts (his wife, my mothers sister) and one of my Cousins (his daughter, younger than myself) have now passed away.

Didn’t say when or how or any other details.

I was in shock as I hadn’t been informed.

I have lived at this same address for many years, I have had the same landline for many years so no excuse there.

Maybe all the rest have moved or died as well.

I obviously don’t count at all in their lives.

We Did It!

First let me say I hope you all had a good Christmas, that you all remained in good health, got a nice gift or two, had a yummy dinner and no family feuds!

Mine was lovely, all my fussing and fretting was as usual quite unnecessary! Had a full house with all my kids here :)

Now I’m just happy, very happy actually that I can now relax and enjoy an entire week off work with nothing in particular to do… ahhhhhhh heaven!!!

I intend to read my books, watch a film or few, and spend lots of time online catching up and just being a slob.

One thing I really have to do is prepare myself to lose some weight. I weighed myself on the Wii and was horrified to see I’ve gained 6lbs in 11 days!

Anyway I will come back to that next year!

Busy Days For Us

I think most of us who celebrate Christmas want it to be "just right"

We have this romantic idea of perfection, but rarely is that the case in reality.

It's not helped by seeing all these super cooks on TV baking all these fancy things. Celebs showing how they apparently do it, well over the top mostly!

For me, well I am working till the last minute on Christmas Eve, so no time to do anything fancy.

So it will be a simple dinner with my partner and kids.

But still I am feeling the pressure of these busy days, shopping, working, more shopping, trying to get the house clean and tidy etc etc..

At least I have the following week off!!!

That's the best bit!!

Ice And Sellotape

A couple of days ago we had a fair amount of snow which all but disappeared as fast as it fell, which is a shame because I love snow.

It’s been so cold though for days on end now and the snow would have made it worthwhile had it stayed!

This Winter is more like the winters I remember as a kid, properly cold which is the way I like it (the seasons should be what they are supposed to be) although I don’t seem to have that many nice warm cuddly clothes now.

Having had such mild winters for the past few years I got rid of lots of stuff and all I have now are a few things I don’t particularly like that much. Not rushing out to buy more though, can’t be spending anymore money now on stuff for myself.

Took a trip to Covent Garden today, just to look around and enjoy the area. As we passed through Trafalgar Square we saw how icy the fountains were!

I did buy one thing though, something I’ve wanted for about 30 years but I only ever think of it around birthdays and Christmas -

A Sellotape dispenser!

Will make all that wrapping a whole lot easier!

Winter Wonderland

I have a couple of days off work now which is great.

So today we decided to visit the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.

We didn’t stay particularly long even though it was mostly sunny it was bitterly bitterly COLD!

Didn’t go on any of the rides as that’s not what I went for, but I did, with my frozen fingers, take a few photos!

I’m sure it would be much prettier in the dark but at least we got to see what everyone has been talking about.. and if you wish, you can have a peek at my photos here:

The Bag That Was Like A Bin!

For weeks I have been promising myself to sort out the contents of my handbag.

It’s been really getting on my nerves as I can never find anything in amongst the absolute rubbish in there, so today I emptied it all out onto the floor and this is it!!

Now to sort out what I really need and dump the rest. Should weigh at lot less then.

Thinking I need a slightly smaller bag as well…

Do you carry lot’s of rubbish in your your bag/purse?

Making A Start

I got up early this morning, well at least Mabel (cat) got me up early. So I took advantage of this by popping down to Oxford Street to do a bit of Christmas shopping.

Armed with a list and wearing comfy boots,  I was determined to move as swiftly as possible and get everything sorted.

The streets were not too packed at that early hour but it wasn’t long before the meandering hordes began to fill the streets on a mission to get in my bleedin’ way!!!!

I did get a couple of things, not saying what though or who for, never know who might be reading this, but I still have a fair bit to get.

Just need time, which is in short supply and patience which is even more scarce!

But I do have a long weekend coming up so hopefully get things completed then, if I don’t well.. tough, it’ll be vouchers all round!

How To Dress When You Shop!

Or maybe not!

These and plenty more shockers HERE!!

I Am Genial And Polite

You Are Genial and Polite
You are thoughtful and contemplative. You enjoy spending time alone with your thoughts.

You are generally confident and friendly with strangers. You are well mannered and sociable.

Money is not important to you at all. In fact, you tend to reject material concerns.

You tend to seek comfort, coziness, and stability in your life. For you, feeling at home is the best feeling ever.

It’s fairly accurate actually!
