Dear Patients,
Please please, when you receive a letter from your GP surgery asking you to come in for a test don’t ignore it!
Amongst other things it might be for a simple urine or blood test.
It might be to get your current height and weight so to obtain your BMI.
It might be to have a spirometry test or come in to talk about stopping smoking or to have an asthma check.
It might be (if you are female between the ages of 25 and 64) for a cervical smear test.
You may well ask, “Why Should I?”
Well there are 2 very good reasons..
One being that if you attend, your GP gets points and points mean prizes in the form of hitting targets and receiving payments. Now this will keep them happy and stop them hounding all the staff to hound you, the patient! (Which would make our daily life at work a whole lot nicer!)
The second and most important reason is that these tests could save your life.
If a disease or condition is detected early then there is a much greater chance of recovery and/or survival!
So, Dear Patient, look forward to seeing you at your local GP surgery very soon,
Yours,
Overworked Member Of GP Surgery Staff
