Exiting Entrecard

With it being October tomorrow I decided this was the right time to take off the Entrecard widget, start the new month afresh.

Not particularly happy with the way they go on there over at EC I am now stripping it off my blog, I am now nekkid of the EC widget!!

I don't want paid ads and I don't want to pay $50 to stop them so there we go.

If things change in the near future then who knows it might come back.

Just hope my readers don't disappear now!!

Really Gonna Try Now

I don't consider myself particularly overweight but I know that recently the pounds have been increasing somewhat mostly round my middle.

I've been putting it off for a while now, each day kicking myself as I realise I've blown it yet again by over consuming.

But from now on I AM going to try to watch what I eat, every single day. {HELP!!}

I'm not hoping to become a super model, just want my clothes to fit comfortably again!

Wish me luck!!

Will You Pay The Entrecard Fee Of $50?

Just read this on The Entrecard Blog:

Hello Entrecarders,

We just wanted to update everyone that the sponsor ads will be postponed for another week, until Oct. 5, 2009. When it is implemented, users will have the option to opt out of the sponsor ads program completely for a small fee. For just $50 a year, you can have your widget free of sponsor ads. We have provided this option for those of you who are concerned about the sponsor ads. Thank you for your support.

*************************

Are you going to pay this $50 to stop them forcing you to show paid ads?

It all feels very wrong yet again to me and I will not be paying this fee, neither will I be showing paid ads, so the only option is to remove my widget I guess.

I have never made a penny through my blogging. I do it purely for my own pleasure so there is no way I can ever justify paying a fee to not have something on my blog that I do not want.

So fellow Entrecarders – I am interested in your views..

Will you pay or, like me, be gone on or around the 5th October?

Camera Critters (13)

Been a long while since I took part in CC, but when I saw these little birds on the shopping trollies at Asda yesterday I knew they would be perfect.

They were so cute (the photos do not do them justice) and were happily tweeting to one another quite unbothered by all that was going on around them!

Keeping The Fleas At Bay

Every month we attempt to apply a small vial of flea treatment to the back of Mabel’s (our cat) neck. Not because she has fleas but as she goes outside we need to make sure she doesn’t come home with any hangers on!

Photobucket

Now attempt is the word! She will be sitting or dozing, apparently unaware of what we are doing but as soon as we approach her, vial in hand, she knows!

Her eyes grow HUGE and she gives us a very threatening look!

One of us tries to part the fur to expose the skin on the back of her neck as the other tries to quickly squirt the contents of the vial, but of course she’s not having it.

So I try to hold her safely and closely but she fights and growls and leaps free from my arms.

I then have to put on a big thick jacket to protect my arms, pick her up as Rob then successfully applies the potion as she wriggles and growls and fights her way free.

Then she goes totally utterly nuts! Running round the flat like something demented for a few minutes.

She settles fairly soon as I guess she realises there’s nothing to get that upset about.

I just wish it was an easier job though and not such an ordeal for her and us!

How do other cat owners manage this I wonder?

Can’t Get One Without The Other!

car

We’ve not had a car for years, but now the time has come to get a bit more mobile.

To get out of London from time to time, to visit places I remember from my childhood back in the countryside, etc etc

BUT being a car owner living in London has it’s problems – parking problems.

We need to get a parking permit from the local council but to do this we need all the vehicle documentation.

So, we need to get the car first, but where the hell do we park it before we get the permit?!!

Ridiculous, but we are stuck, can’t get one without the other!

Less Blogging – More iPhone

Several months ago I used to post on this blog every single day. I felt I had something interesting to share (even if it wasn’t! lol)

But recently I have very little inspiration and I don’t know exactly why.

Life hasn’t changed much at all, (hmm maybe that’s why – same old, same old) but I have the the same working hours yet I feel I have much less time to spend doing this blogging.

Maybe one factor which has led to the decline of my blogging spirit is my iPhone.

I’m still so totally in love with it, still fascinated by each and every new app I find that I can easily spend an evening ignoring my lovely laptop, quite engrossed in the net iPhone style.

I love the camera apps, the games, the clever little utilities etc etc.

Now maybe I should do a post on individual apps.. if I can stop playing with them long enough that is!

Testing Testing..

I've been very busy or maybe I should say lazy as I've not put my computer on for days.

I'm just finding myself using my iPhone more and more to have a quick peek around online and a bit of a Tweet.

Plus I've not had much to blog about really..

Anyhow, just testing out a little blogging app I got for my phone.

Looks OK but not sure it does much more than could be done from an email posting..

Ahh well, never mind..

Back soon hopefully when I have something to say/share!

The Rising Cost Of Spending A Penny

Photobucket

As a young child I remember it costing literally one penny to use a public toilet. Hence the saying “spend a penny”!  lol

There were slots on each cubicle door and after one person paid we’d hold the door open for others – very naughty I know..

(That was in OLD money, pre-decimalisation!)

Yesterday I was surprised to have to pay 30pence (in old money this would be six shillings or 72 old pennies) to use the loo at Victoria Rail Station, London, and there was no loo roll!

I know they don’t want “undesirables”  hanging around in the toilets but I do think it’s getting a bit pricey!

What’s the most you’ve had to pay to “spend a penny”?

Funfair In Town

Not that you’d ever see me on any of the rides!

Might pop down there over the weekend and take some more photos, that's all, just photos!

I Remember When.. Damn, I Forgot..

Photobucket

For the past few weeks I have been planning a post or few on things I remember from the past, things from my childhood. I usually think of these things as I trot along to work each day.

However I’ve not been able to do a single post as every time I sit down to do it I truly cannot remember anything.

Definitely got to start writing notes, but then I probably won’t remember where I left them…

Hopefully I’ll be able to do a “remembering” post soon.

Just thought I’d say that..

Happy 3rd Blogoversary To Me

Photobucket

Whooo Hoooo, 3 years writing this drivel and I still have readers, for that I am grateful.

It would be a lot less fun sitting here talking to myself now!

Even so after all this time it’s still a struggle to know just how much to divulge about my life, past and present.

Difficult to know how much to write without making my life too open to the world. (I’m sure most bloggers have similar feelings)

Because you never really know who might be reading and who may know the real identity of "Lady Banana" hehehe..

It would be great fun and I believe quite therapeutic to be able to write all my feelings and daily events in an open, free and unedited format.. But, for now, that’s not going to happen..

So here’s hoping you'll keep coming back for at least another 3 yrs to read more drivel and "snippets" from the life of a “Banana”, thank you my dear readers!

I Am Officially A Superwoman!!

Photobucket

Or should I say Super Banana!

This week saw me back at work after almost 3 weeks away.

To say the least I was really worried about the backlog of work I’d face and the general being back at work, flogging my guts out feeling.

On the first day back I was told I was to train up, lets call her R, from the general office to do a lot of my admin work, which sounds like a great idea but when you’ve so much to catch up on it’s not the best timing as training someone makes everything very slow.

However, I’ve just about managed to make really good headway with the catching up alongside giving R as much training as possible (still got a long way to go)

All week she shadowed me in just about all I had to do, and that came as a shock to her!

Although she has worked in the general office for a long time she had no inkling of the sheer amount of work tasks I have to do each and every day.

Many times this week she expressed her amazement and said there would be no way she could ever do all of my job.

She went back to the general office to tell them she thought I was a Superwoman!!

Of course this gave my ego a massive boost because for the first time ever I think those that I work with will begin to realise the sheer immensity of my job.

Not even the manager is aware of all I do in reality, so I’m very pleased that now, even she will know of my super powers!

Wish it would have an effect on my paypacket though!
