TwitChuck says I'm worth following on Twitter -
that's nice isn't it.. lol
But at least we don't have to wear a fur coat in 30c weather!
The past 4 weeks or so have been very hectic for me at home. The flat has been very full as all 3 of my very grown up kids were home.
This is probably why my mind has been pretty far away from regular blogging, which isn’t really a bad thing is it!
You may have read a few weeks ago I was really worried about having them all back at once but I must say it’s been really OK.
Yes, there has been a terrible mess, bags, shoes and clothes, you name it all over the place and nothing in it’s right place, lots of noise and stuff but I’ve tried so hard to stay calm about it and I think I’ve done well, and actually really enjoyed them being around all together!
But nothing stays the same for long. My son is moving to a little flat of his own tomorrow and one of my girls is off to stay with a friend for a few weeks. The best bit though is that both of them are going to be only about a 10 minute walk away!
So, maybe I should stop worrying about things - as someone once said to me – No Condition Is Permanent
Working in a Dr's surgery I know how much the Swine flu is spreading and how fast.
Today 2 of our GP's went off sick with it.
The rest of us are left wondering who will it hit next?
In a way I hope (if I have to get it) that it happens soon as no doubt it will be worse during the winter.
So, now Dr's are no longer testing for the virus with swabs as there are just too many to keep up with.
Known contacts are no longer being offered Tamiflu for much the same reason, also it's now quite obvious this cannot be contained in particular areas such as schools, it's just already too widespread.
I'm still not worried as it is (so far) a mild illness but all the same it’s slightly concerning as it’s spreading so quickly now.
So, at the weekend I took the plunge and bought myself a well earned treat – a shiny new iPhone!
It’s smooth and sleek and lovely and yes rather pricey but I think I deserve it hehe
It does lot’s of things (as did my Nokia N95) but way way easier. It also does lots of things the Nokia didn’t do!
However there has to be a downside sadly and that is the dreadful battery life!!!
What’s the point of having such a super duper gadget that does everything but runs out of juice in no time at all!?!
I have no objection to charging it every night as I sleep but I am NOT happy to be without a phone half way through the day ![]()
I can’t believe I’ve not posted since Monday, but then again I’ve not been feeling well at all.
Tuesday I thought I was getting a cold with sore throat and headache, Wednesday the
same but worse, aching all over as well.
Thursday weirdly I felt OK, then this morning I woke with what felt like a bomb was exploding in my brain.
But now, Friday evening I’m not too bad, thankfully.
Then alongside all of this I felt horribly stressed out to the point of feeling I was really loosing my marbles! I’m sure it’s my hormones as I’ve been getting breast pain and bleeding all over the place – probably the start of the dreaded menopause!!
I am though, as Rob calls me, a martyr as I plodded into work every day even though I’m sure at times I felt more unwell than some of the patients!
At one point I seriously wondered if I was getting some version of swine flu, but my temperature wasn’t up at all, so I wasn’t too bad.
So, I’m happy this week is done, and now this weekend shall be cherished!
I’m getting thoroughly fed up with Google Reader the last couple of days.
It seems the posts I have read just won’t go away.
I press the “Mark All As Read” button, which seems to get rid of the post count in the list in the left but in the preview pane they won’t go.
I read through the new posts and the old ones that I have read some days/weeks ago re-appear.
So I’m getting confused at what I have seen and what I haven’t.
I’ve cleared cookies, cache and whatever. I’ve tried it in IE as well as Firefox. I’ve even tried it on Rob’s Mac – same problem everywhere.
So I went to Google Reader Help at Groups and notice that 1 other person has the same problem.
But still no answer or solution.
So, if anyone else has this problem or knows what to do about it please let me know! ![]()
Last night for my sons birthday we went for a meal.
As the tubes were on strike and the buses totally overcrowded we decided to go somewhere within reasonable walking distance.
We chose Ekin, a lovely little Turkish restaurant in NW London
I can honestly say it was the most enjoyable meal I’ve had out for as long as I can remember – highly recommended.
I had very high blood pressure amongst other things and was fast developing pre-eclampsia – so I had my first born baby boy induced with a hormonal drip. After a long and painful labour I gave birth to Philip!
Just amazing to think that was 28 years ago – I must have been only about 12..(not really lol)
So, here’s wishing my lovely young man, a very Happy Birthday!
Katie Price (aka Jordan) used to be a fairly glamorous glamour model – depending on your taste in women of course.
She is well known for her enormous fake boobs.
She has recently broken up from her husband and seems to have gone into some kind of crisis – looks like one of her balloons boobs may have burst as well!
I mean, where on earth is her left one?
I use Firefox just about 100% of the time nowadays. I rarely think of those who use Internet Explorer but yesterday I tried to load my blog in IE and noticed it wouldn’t work.
Knowing that there are still a fair number of people still using IE I wanted to find out what was preventing it loading.
I put out a plea on on Twitter and it didn’t take long for Hollydale to come to the rescue. He suggested it was the Google Friend Connect widget causing the problem and that I should try either moving it to the very bottom of the blog or removing it completely.
I’m pleased to say moving it to the very bottom did the trick – it seems to be OK in IE now (please let me know if you have a problem loading in IE)
Pity though, as I bet no one will ever see it now hiding right down there in the basement..
The last few days I’ve been very busy bee..
Firstly with my son coming home, it’s been great to catch up with each other. I’m so happy to have him back here in UK! He now has to find himself a flat, get a job and start again which is exciting.
On Wednesday I had an ultrasound of my breasts and mammogram.
I have them every year as my sister had breast cancer in her 30’s and passed away at just 40.
A couple of years ago I had fibroadenomas removed myself so it’s important for me to have regular checks.
I’ve also been ridiculously tired this week, mostly because I’ve had difficulty sleeping when it’s been so hot. Now the temperature has dropped somewhat it’s getting better.
So that’s why I’ve not blogged or been able to visit all your blogs. I hope I’ll be able to catch up somehow soon!
Tomorrow my son arrives back from living and working in Dubai for over 2 years.
I’m so excited as we’ve not seen him for over a year, apart from on webcam occasionally.
He’s going to have to just about start all over again, new flat, new job etc etc.
I just wonder how long he will stay here in England or will he get itchy feet again..
