Will You Pay The Entrecard Fee Of $50?
Just read this on The Entrecard Blog:
Hello Entrecarders,
We just wanted to update everyone that the sponsor ads will be postponed for another week, until Oct. 5, 2009. When it is implemented, users will have the option to opt out of the sponsor ads program completely for a small fee. For just $50 a year, you can have your widget free of sponsor ads. We have provided this option for those of you who are concerned about the sponsor ads. Thank you for your support.

Are you going to pay this $50 to stop them forcing you to show paid ads?
It all feels very wrong yet again to me and I will not be paying this fee, neither will I be showing paid ads, so the only option is to remove my widget I guess.
I have never made a penny through my blogging. I do it purely for my own pleasure so there is no way I can ever justify paying a fee to not have something on my blog that I do not want.
So fellow Entrecarders – I am interested in your views..

Goodbye Entrecard.
There's no way I'll pay the fee. I don't even know if it's $50 per person or $50 per blog, but either way it's too much.
The only good thing about Entrecard is the community of bloggers. But I'm still part of the blogging community with or without Entrecard.
I'll wait to see what happens on October the 5th. Maybe the ads will be acceptable, maybe I'll have to remove Entrecard.

There is no way I am paying, at the same time there is no way I want paid ads on my blog either. Like you, I have never made a penny from my blogging and never intend to either, so it will prob be bye bye entrecard from me too.
Wow - I'd be gone too. There will always be another 'something' to take it's place.
I'm not paying it. I don't get enough traffic from EC to justify it. At most I've gotten 80 drops. That's it. Like you said, it seems ridiculous to force someone to pay to have something NOT shown on their blog. It's my blog, not theirs. I'd rather have less traffic than shell out money for that.
Furthermore, look at how poorly the cash out was handled security wise. From what I remember reading on the forums before they were shut down, the form for your SS number wasn't even encrypted. No way am I going to give them my credit card or paypal info over an unsecure site. I'm thinking my time with EC may be drawing near.
Entrecard isn't worth $50 a year. To much down time and widgets broken to much to start with. Either way it's the last straw with Entrecard. All we care about is community and as said above, we can have that without Entrecard, so Wanda and I feel the same as you do and will be leaving Entrecard.

I've already been out of the entrecard came for some months now.
I think it's like paying premium to remove popups and banner ads - perhaps ass-hat at Entrecard thought the same too !
They're running it like an asylum board - love us or leave us !
The idea of PAYING them to keep ads I can't screen off of MY blog was the final straw. By the end of the week, the EC widget will be toast.
I wouldn't remove the widget... just place it at the bottom of the page and make a small text message at its usual place (if someone could make a graphic button with "EntreCard is at the End" or "Push EntreCard Down" would be great).
90% of your visitors don't watch at the end of the blog, the other 10% don't really care about it...

They seem to think they became an essential service if they think people would actually pay $50 to keep them around. I also wonder what planet they are on that $50 is a small fee. Let them eat cake.
