This Weekend

This weekend is going to be very full - not much time for blogging, reading blogs or much else..

Saturday I'm off to Leicester to visit my eldest daughter, Sunday off to Surrey to visit the inlaws.

I know it's good be to doing something real life for a change, but I will miss my online life.. lol

BUT I do have my wonderful mobile which can do all kinds of amazing internetty things and I will (maybe) use Twitter, Utterz and whatever else I can think of. However as I am travelling by coach I have to be careful as too much reading/looking down and I get travel sickness rather too quickly.. anyway, will have to see how it goes!

Hope you all have a good weekend whatever you get up to!

An Earthquake And Work Woes

Well there was an earthquake felt through much of the UK last night - but I didn't hear a thing.. I was tucked and fast asleep.

No one at work heard it either.. I don't actually think it was particularly strong down here but up more up north it was. My daughter who is in Leicester felt it, it woke her up and gave her quite a scare even though it lasted only 10 seconds or so!

Today I've been feeling rather odd.. I'm not too keen on changes, particularly at work and that's where it's all about to happen. I work in a GP Dr surgery and the Government is pushing all or most surgeries to open extended hours. This sounds like a good idea to me as a patient, but as a member of staff it's not so good.

I'm not going to go into detail but from April we will be open straight through from 8am till 8pm.. and a strong possibility of Saturdays also.

There doesn't seem to be anything happening about recruiting extra staff, just an unpleasant assumption that the existing staff will cover this 12 hour day!

Yeah right! Not me for one..

That coupled with the possibility that my entire daily tasks at work maybe about to change I think it not surprising I feel a little uncomfortable!

Manic Monday

I've seen Manic Monday on several blogs before but never took part but seeing it today on Siani's Pot-Pourri I thought I'd give it a go!

How did you celebrate your last birthday?

I was in Dubai, seeing all the amazing buildings and of course visiting my wonderful son!

What's the last thing you bought yourself, just for fun?

A new phone, its the Nokia N95, which can do just about anything (except make the tea!). I love having the internet just about anywhere, (see it's a serious addiction!) I didn't buy it right out though, (far too expensive) it's on a monthly contact from 3.

What would the child you once were think of the adult you have become?

You're turning into my MUM!

Awards Catch Up

Over the past couple of weeks I have received some lovely awards but hadn't got round to displaying them, so here goes!

From Anna at Beth & Cory's Mum

Thank you Anna!

The following from Siani at Siani's Pot-Pourri

Thank you Siani!

The following is from Tee at Spilt Milk

Thank you Tee!

And this one is from Diane at Much Of A Muchness

Thank you Diane!

I have to admit I am far too lazy to pass them on individually (SORREEEEEEE) But I would be very happy for any of my regular readers to consider themselves duly awarded any or all of the above!

Trees

Went walking in Regents Park again this afternoon - as usual took lots of photos..

But in particular I was fascinated by these tree's, some with huge spilts in, some with holes and one with a huge nasty looking growth on the side..

How You Life Your Life

You seem to be straight forward, but you keep a lot inside.

You are always tactful and diplomatic. You let people down gently.

You prefer a variety of friends and tend to change friends quickly.

You tend to dream big, but you worry that your dreams aren't attainable.

Bananas Are Just Like People

I came across this picture and it made me think, just like people, bananas come in all sizes and colours - and I thought, that's nice :)

OK, now you probably think I've lost my marbles or something...

Quick And Easy Send To Flickr

Do you ever wish you could just send a photo to Flickr with a simple right click and it happens almost instantly?

Up till now I could send to Flickr with the right click but then it would take ages to bring up the uploader...

Well today I found something today that does just that, instant upload, it's brilliant!

You do have to download a little something, which is simple and safe, install it, then a new Flickr option becomes visible when you right click, and go to send to...

Couldn't be easier, just have to go to Flickr itself to add tags, etc (if you want to)

Cleaning fluid, loo cleaner, disinfectant, shower gel???

Anyone know?

A Bit Late But Still Old Fashioned

I thought of doing the PhotoHunt this weekend. Had a look on the site earlier this week to find the theme - Old Fashioned - got my photo ready, a quick check back to the PhotoHunt site just now and I realised I had misread it!! Old fashioned was a month ago!!

Well, I had scanned the pic and got it ready so I thought I may as well post it anyway, it's even more old fashioned than it was a month ago!

Yep! It's me, way back in August 1979, with old fashioned hair, glasses, and clothes and sitting on a very old fashioned train!

Music From Windows XP and 98..oh and Apple!

For some reason this made me laugh till I cried - I really don't know why.. have a listen..

Quick add... Just found one for the Apple users!

Getting Drunk On Crisps?

Revealed today - some crisps have a teeny weeny bit of alcohol, added to extract the flavour apparently..

This has obviously not gone down to well with the Muslim Community..

Senior Muslim figures have said that they are shocked that a number of Walkers snacks contain traces of alcohol and eating them is therefore against their religion.

A tiny amount of alcohol is used in some products as a chemical agent to extract flavour.

Snacks that are likely to be boycotted by Muslims are Sensations Thai Sweet Chilli, Doritos Chilli Heat Wave and Quavers Cheese.

Full story HERE

Now that's why I always felt dizzy after eating them... nahh only joking

When I logged in to Blogger this evening I noticed this in the Blogger Buzz, on the dashboard...

I was getting very exited and quickly clicked the link to join up, only to be met with a screen telling me - Only Available In US... booooooo hooooooo...

My Utterz

Mobile post sent by LadyBanana using Utterz Replies.  mp3

Do You Utterz?

I've been tentatively playing with Utterz for the last couple of weeks.

I love the idea of it - a kind of Twitter but with voice. The only problem is I'm a bit shy when it comes to leaving voicemails, and that is what it is really, leaving voicemails to be posted in a variety of places (which you choose)

Anyway, if any of you are Utterez then you'll find me there, same name and you're welcome to add me. I've no followers yet.

I've just done an Utter, which should shortly be posted here. It takes about 10 minutes to arrive on the page. (although I might just delete it if it sounds really awful)

Music From Way Back Then

I came across this at Beth and Cory's Mum and thought I'd give it a go.

What music was number 1 in the charts on any significant day?

The day I was born:
Great Balls Of Fire - Jerry Lee Lewis

The day my partner was born:
Lily The Pink - Scaffold

The day my son was born:
Being With You - Smokey Robinson

The day my eldest daughter was born:
Candy Girl - New Edition

The day my youngest daughter was born:

Sometimes I Think Enough Is Enough

Not much happening around here.. same old routine of rushing back and forth to work.

As many know I work in a medical centre and so come into contact with patients records, obviously these are highly confidential but something I read today just stuck in my mind all day.

This was a gastroscopy report of an old lady, 91 years old. It described how she was unable to tolerate or even cooperate with the procedure. She had been sedated but still continually fought and pulled at the endoscope. It was obviously a very distressing situation for this poor old woman.

The reason for this procedure was anaemia. I guess they were suspecting some kind of stomach bleed.

I wonder, is it worth putting such an obviously confused and distressed old lady through such an unpleasant procedure.

I have never met this lady but I had an imaginary picture of her struggling, in my head all day.

Maybe sometimes it's better to let nature take its course and let this lady retain some dignity for the rest of her days.

How Do You Manage Your Flickr Contacts?

I currently have 204 contacts on Flickr, some people have a whole lot more.

I have a feed to my Google Reader which tells me when any contact has uploaded a photo so I don't miss anything.

However, when you've been away, or unable to read all these feeds for a couple of days there can be close on 600 or more photos to look at.

Now this is way too much for me as I do like to comment on as many as I can, well as many as catch my eye, but it's all another of those cases of it all getting too much.

I'm thinking of whittling my contact list down a little but I always feel bad when I remove someone, like they've offended me or something! How do you let some contacts go?

Do you look at all your contacts photos, everyday? occasionally? how do you manage it all?

All Over The Place

This weekend I've been so busy, yesterday going to Brighton to visit my daughter and to see the sea!

Today I went out and bought myself a new phone, the Nokia N95 with 3 Mobile.

So far it's been driving me mad, for some reason I'm getting very confused with it all, probably because it's so very different from my old phone. I know I'm also very impatient, wanting to know and do everything straight away!

It is a fantastic phone, able to do just about everything a phone could ever do. Just a steep learning curve for me to make it happen at the touch of a button or few!

Anyway, now to catch up with a few blogs etc...

Ass!

Life is all about ass;

Either you're covering it,

Laughing it off,

Kicking it,

Kissing it,

Busting it,

Trying to get a piece of it,

Behaving like one, or

You live with one!!

Blogger Layout Annoyance - Can You Help?

I'm wondering if anyone out there can help me with this, or do you have the same thing happen?

Recently when I go to the layout of this blog there is no longer a scrollbar across the bottom of that section. ( I don't mean a browser scrollbar) It was a scrollbar to enable me to see the widgets on either side of the blog clearly for moving/adding or editing.

Now I can only see half of the widget section on the right which completely blocks out the edit bit, it's very annoying as I'm sure you can imagine - see image..

I've not changed anything other than adding a few more widgets, done nothing to the html or anything..

Any ideas please, anyone?

Entrecard Recent Droppers List

Seems this evening is rather busy here on the blog.. Just added yet another little widgetty thingy.. It's just below the actual Entrecard widget on the right sidebar.

It's a list of recent Entrecard droppers.. I guess this a kind of dropping incentive as the last 6 droppers are listed/linked. (The code originally said 5 but I prefer the number 6, so changed it, suppose you could have as many as you wish)

Not sure if I'll keep it, see how it goes - if you'd like to try it you can find it HERE

My Mood Widget

I've come across a lot of mood widgets, but the one I've just added to the right sidebar is the best I've seen - so far..lol

It's from LabPixies and it's very user friendly, not only can you pick your mood from the variety of little mood icons but you can add a little text on the side and change the background - neat!

Should I Get A New Phone?

I haven't had a new mobile phone for about 3 years now and up until recently I didn't really think about getting a new one. The one I have works fine - so why would I want another one? Well because so many of them can now access the internet (amongst about a million other things) and internet means.. well it means so many things!!

My current phone can access internet but horribly slow and it can only do the most basic of things, like show the news headlines and the weather..

So I am very tempted by these 2 phones - the Nokia N95 and the LG Viewty

One of these with Web 'n' Walk from TMobile would be ideal!

I know, I'm starting to sound like some kind of advert here, but it's just me trying to decide, which should I get? Or should I get one at all?

Happy Valentines Day To All Readers Old And New!!

101 Reasons To Be Amazed!

Right now I have 101 readers to this blog - that's pretty amazing to me!

If you are one of these wonderful valuable readers then I thank you for making me feel good, for making me feel it's all worthwhile and I hope you are, at least some of the time, enjoying what you find here ♥ ♥ ♥

Feeling Better

Feeling a lot better today which is a relief. My blood tests came back and they were all normal as I thought they probably would be.

I really need to stop getting in a panic everytime I feel crap for a few days, it wont be easy considering the past but I will try.

Or maybe it was the actual blood letting that made me better, you know like they did in the old days with the leeches...lol

6 Lessons In Life

Lesson 1:
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings.

The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.

When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbour.

Before she says a word, Bob says, 'I'll give you $800 to drop that towel.'

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob, after a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and leaves.

The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.

When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, 'Who was that?'

'It was Bob the next door neighbour,' she replies.

'Great,' the husband says, 'did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?'

Moral of the story:

If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Lesson 2:
A priest offered a Nun a lift.

She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg.

The priest nearly had an accident.

After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg.

The nun said, 'Father, remember Psalm 129?'

The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again.
The nun once again said, 'Father, remember Psalm 129?'

The priest apologized 'Sorry sister but the flesh is weak.'

Arriving at the convent, the nun sighed heavily and went on her way.

On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, 'Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory.'

Moral of the story:

If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Lesson 3:
A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp.

They rub it and a Genie comes out.
The Genie says, 'I'll give each of you just one wish.'
'Me first! Me first!' says the admin clerk. 'I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.'
Puff! She's gone.

'Me next! Me next!' says the sales rep. 'I want to be in Hawaii , relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life.'

Puff! He's gone.

'OK, you're up,' the Genie says to the manager.
The manager says, 'I want those two back in the office after lunch.'

Moral of the story:
Always let your boss have the first say.

Lesson 4
An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing.

A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, 'Can I also sit like you and do nothing?'
The eagle answered: 'Sure, why not.'

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story:
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Lesson 5
A turkey was chatting with a bull.

'I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree' sighed the turkey, 'but I haven't got the energy.'
'Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?' replied the bull. They're packed with nutrients.'

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.

The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.

Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree.

He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story:
Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there..

Lesson 6
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field.

While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him.

As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was.

The dung was actually thawing him out!

He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.
A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.

Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Morals of the story:

(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.

(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your
friend.

(3) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep
your mouth shut!
