Should I Shave The Cat?

I've just spent a lot of time and energy hoovering and dusting and most of the mess is cat fur from my visitor.

I guess it's the time of year for shedding a lot more fur, getting rid of the thick winter coat but it's no joke, it's everywhere! I can't imagine what it would be like for those who have several cats.

Well I was thinking, would it not be a good idea just to shave her completely then only the summer coat would grow back? Save all this messy moulting?

OK, now before I get hammered for this I am only joking, but it is an idea? no? lol

We're lucky because our kitties don't shed. Thank goodness because our condo is so small.

That is a very disturbing picture Lady Banana! If you dip a cat in motor oil and then rinse with warm water, the cat be be completely hairless (so they tell me)...hahaha!

My best friend has a long hair cat. She doesn't shave him completely, but she does get him clipped pretty short. He looks a little funny, but really, where we live it's so darned hot that the cat is much more comfortable. Not to mention less hairballs in the house. Lots of people clip their long hair cats in the summer. Groomers do it as a regular thing (at least where I live, which is near tropical in the summer.)

To shave the pussy, or not to shave the pussy. That is the question.

Sorry, but someone was bound to say it.

I know that some people with long-haired kitties actually do have them shaved. I am very lucky, because my curly fur does not shed!

Awake: I was going to use the word PUSSY in the title but then thought it might be a little provocative - maybe I should have done, might have gotten a whole new readership! LOL

That cat looks so overjoyed with the trim. I think you should go for it. Just get those bootie things on it too. They're cute!

One of our cats is like Pigpen in Peanuts (only with hair not flies!) so I know how you feel!

I can vouch for what Bobby says. Had a cat many years ago who hid under a leaking van sump - ended bald in patches!

Thats too cute...I say SHAVE THE PUSSY!

I shave my cat about 2-3 times a year, to keep him from getting so sick from hairballs. (he's old)

He looks a lot like that when he's shaved! :)

Did you see the programme about tie dyed poodles in China a couple of days ago? Just as strange.
