Off to Brighton Tomorrow :)

Really looking forward to seeing my daughter tomorrow in Brighton. I know she's only been away for a week but it will be wonderful so see her again and to see the house she's renting with her new uni mates. Will also be great to finally be able to put faces to the names of those new mates!

Gates Closed..

Kilburn Grange Park, originally uploaded by Lady Banana.

This is a nice little park that I pass through everyday on my way to work - till today that is anyway. The 2 gates I use to enter and leave the park have been closed for the next 3 weeks... A notice on the gate says "For Community Safety" I cannot imagine why this is as there are other gates (no good for me though) which are still open. Have to look into it and find out more, I'm sure it must be a very valid reason but its a bit odd I think!

Brighton has a new Star

Yesterday my youngest daughter left home for uni in Brighton... Its wonderful, she worked hard for her A Levels and is growing up beautifully. She is about to study Psychology and Criminology. However I feel so lost without her here, I miss her terribly! Brighton is only about 56 miles away, its a great town by the sea so I can easily go visit, but I still feel its such a big thing. I dont quite have an empty nest yet as I do have another lovely daughter here at home (I also have a son who moved out a couple of years ago) but I still feel really sad. So much goes through my mind from worrying about her and how she will cope not only with uni but with dealing with life as an independant young adult right through to feeling less and less needed and more and more old... Its hard to get to grips with the fact that I have done so much, raising 3 kids to adulthood and I still feel about 22 myself (mentally anway!) And some say I'm not too bad on the outside either, 3 months ago I was called a MILF by one of my sons friends, but thats another story!! However thats the way life goes, we have the kids and all too soon they are grown and gone.. So I guess I had better get on and get used to it... Still doesn't make it any easier, at the moment though - I miss her soooo much!!

A Star Was Born

Back in the 1970's, (yeah I know I'm showing my age!) I saw at the cinema "A Star Is Born" a film starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. It was as I remember a beautiful tragic film. I have the soundtrack and still regularly listen to it (and sing along - hehe) I wonder why this film has never been released on DVD!?! I'm sure I cant be the only one who would love to see this film again and I hope one day it will be available.

If anyone knows if it may ever be released please let me know!

They're Coming To Get Me!

They're Coming To Get Me!, originally uploaded by Lady Banana.

Caught this cat in the park, racing around as "invisible" monsters
chased after it and it ran up a tree to escape - was hilarious!

Beautiful Bengal Cat

Sitting, originally uploaded by Siggav.

I would love to have a cat and in particular a Bengal Cat. The markings are so beautiful and distinct and the fur appears to be soo silky. I have never seen or touched one in real life but hope I will. I know from research online thay are quite expensive to buy and with my luck it would get stolen knowing the area in which I live... Oh well..

Walking to work... Waiting for Buses...

Every day I walk to work. Its just the right distance for a bit of exercise and I pass through a small park, its not the most beautiful park but its nicer than just plain old roads. In fact its quite a nice walk, takes about 20 mins each way...However one thing that never ceases to annoy me soo much are the bus stops, well not the bus stops themselves, its the people that queue at them. WHOOPS ! Did I say queue!!! NO Way they do not queue, that's the annoying bit, they stand wherever they feel like standing, well I hear you thinking, it is a free country! But they stand in a loosely packed crowd, all over the pavement, they leave no space for other people (such as myself on my journey to and from work) to pass by. They stand in a way that observes the need for their personal space between each of them BUT this does not leave enough space for anyone else to get through the "crowd". I approach this crowd each and every morning with trepidation, usually there are several people there facing me as I approach and every day I think, YES they see me coming, they will have the good grace and manners to move a little to allow my passage. But NO! never does that happen, I have to say loud and clear.. "Excuse Me" which as a well bought up woman I have no objection to. The problem is these people, this crowd is 99% ignorant, rude and plain inconsiderate - they just do not move. So what does that leave me to do.. it leaves me to have to barge through, which then makes these people groan and grunt at MY rudeness! It makes me feel, to put it it lightly rather pissed off! So please think next time you are waiting for that bus, is there room for others to pass by without encroaching on your personal space? Are you a considerate "crowd" member?

Get Recycling!

Every year households in Britain throw away 22,000,000 tonnes of waste into landfill. However, as a country we have recycling targets of 25% of municipal waste to reach; we are currently only recovering 14.4%.
We all need to be more responsible whether at home, school, or in business!
If you're not sure where to recycle, click image above and enter your postcode (UK ONLY)
